Learning to Recognize Your Spirit Symbols

One of the questions I get asked frequently during my sessions is “  How do I know that my Spirit Guides or Loved Ones are around me?”

My thoughts are that our spirit guides and departed loved ones love us very much and want to communicate with us just as much as we would like to hear from them. The problem is that sometimes our hectic schedules and busy daily life can be very stressful and distracting and we simply don’t notice their interaction. So, we need to train our brains to be on the alert for repeating symbols, patterns, or numbers that keep showing up around us.

What To Looks For

Symbols and messages can manifest in so many ways. Perhaps you are thinking of someone or something and a lovely red cardinal perches on your window and looks right into your eyes. You will be able to feel it when you encounter a significant symbol. You might feel a shiver run through your body or a sense of being embraced by a big hug or a profound knowing that it is important. No, it is not your imagination! In fact, it might just be your “Hello from Heaven”.

As I write this in my Happy Place, Westbury Gardens on Long Island, a Blue Jay just came and sat on tree near where I was sitting and writing. Thanks for the encouragement spirit people!

Sometimes they might speak to you through a song on the radio that plays just as you are thinking or missing them. Maybe the actual song reminds you of a significant time or place or the lyrics are just what you needed to hear at that time. There might be time when you hear familiar words, phrases or sayings coming out of the mouths of random people while standing on line. Listen to what is going on around you and take note as this may happen more frequently than you might think.

Do you see repeating number sequences or find coins? Departed loved ones that worked with numbers, banking/finance or science might prefer to communicate this way or you yourself might be a number person. Spirit will choose the easiest route to get your attention.

In numerology, 1111 signifies you are on the right path and you are being assisted by your Soul, Spirit Guides, and the Universe to consciously grow and expand.

I have a friend that continually sees the master number 11:11 just when she needs validation that she is heading in the right direction.

Since spirits are pure energy, they can easily influence the flow of electricity like turning electronic devices on and off and making lights flicker. Since this is the easiest thing for a spirit to learn, it might be one of the first ways that someone who is newly transitioned uses to make their presence known.

One of the most powerful experiences that I have ever had was in 2017 at a spiritual conference in Sedona, Arizona. I had just completed a Past Life class with renowned author and speaker Denise Linn. Denise is an amazing teacher and inspirational lecturer and she told us a story about her deceased mentor “Dancing Feather”. At the end of the session, she told us to watch out for feathers, as it is common for her students to see feathers after hearing Dancing Feather’s story.

Several hours later, we were taking a hike up along the majestic red rocks when a lone white fluffy cloud appeared in the sky above us in the shape of a perfect feather. We were amazed and I think that even Denise was surprised when she saw the photo. Just a confirmation that the spirit lives on and indeed walks beside us on our life journey.

How Can I Find My Symbols?

The answer is very simple, just ask! You can do this during meditation, laying down relaxing, enjoying your happy place like the beach or a park, or just about anytime when you are calm and relaxed. Someone told me once that a shower was a great place to put intentions out to the universe as our bodies are usually relaxed and the gentle purifying and cleansing stream of water connects us to mother earth.

So one day, I did just that. During my shower, I asked spirit to show me my sign for a departed loved one so I would know that they were around me. After the shower, I got dressed and started to do some cleaning (many people feel that some mindless housework is a perfect way to give your brain a rest).

I started with (you guessed it), the shower and after turning on some Spa Radio, I went to work. As I was scrubbing and rinsing, I noticed a haunting melody drifting into the bathroom. It seemed familiar but I just could not place it but I knew it was speaking to me. So, I hurried into the living room to see what it was. To my amazement and delight, I discovered it was “The Feather Theme” from Forest Gump. Many people remember the movie but not many remember that classic symbolic floating feather scene that was used at the beginning and end of the movie or this inspirational quote referring to Forrest’s beloved Jenny.

That’s a good question, Forest! My question had been asked and answered quickly. Since that day, I see feathers at significant times and places and they always make me smile.

How Do I Know The Symbol Is Significant?

Recognizing your symbol is all about patterns and feelings. Things that show up again and again mean spirit is trying to get your attention and attempting to set up your personal communication language so they can let you know they are around you.

Try this for yourself. Go to a place where you feel safe, calm, relaxed and filled with love. Your state of mind is very important because the higher your vibration, the easier it will be to connect with spirit so they can receive your intentions.

Ask spirit to show you your symbol and thank them in advance for working with you. Then go about your daily routines and notice what happens. I highly suggest you get a journal and record the things that appear in the next several days and weeks. Be sure to include the following:

  • As much detail about the experience as you can remember. Try to record it as soon as possible so you don’t forget anything. If you have a smartphone, use it.
  • What were you thinking or doing just before you experienced your symbol?
  • Has this happened before? Remember we are looking for repeating patterns.
  • How did it make you feel? Only symbols that make you feel good are relevant. If they make you feel bad, they are probably a product of your ego brain trying to prevent you from feeling the love. Tell that ego brain to take a hike!!

Hopefully, you will try this and let me know what you experience so we can all share and learn from each other.

Wishing you all Love and Abundance!
